The park will open Nov. 27 — what would have been the Seattle-born musician’s 70th birthday.

There’s just one thing that’s a little different about this park, which will be located at 2400 South Massachusetts Street. It has a fretboard.

A proposed design for the park was unveiled last summer. True to Hendrix’s legacy, it resembles a guitar. (But no reverse headstock.)

Take a look at the preferred design.

The park will feature lyrics from Hendrix songs on fixtures, rain drums, a sound garden and a performance area. It’s funded partly by a donation from the rocker’s sister Janie Hendrix.

There’s also plenty of imaginative denim, as a brief glance at the collection reveals.

At the Macy’s shopping launch of the event, Tyler told WWD he was thrilled fans could now buy into the “freak style” he wears onstage and that he’s “honored” to be a new member of the extended Hilfiger family.

As for as the marriage between Tyler’s personal style and his day job as a musician, he said, “I’ve just got more female energy. I like that flowing and nurturing and I’m a songwriter, so I’m into form and fashion and how it all goes together. Always have been, so it’s just perfect.”

Gere sold more than 100 guitars at Christie’s on Tuesday, realizing a total of $936,438, the auction house said. Only four of the 106 instruments on offer failed to sell. The collection was expected to take in about $1 million.

The top lot was a Gibson 1960 Les Paul solid-body electric guitar, which sold for $98,500 including commission, beating the $90,000 high pre-sale estimate. It was bought by a private U.S. collector.

Three of the sale’s top 10 lots were purchased by the CF Martin & Co. Museum in Nazareth, Pa., including a 1931 CF Martin guitar and case that went for $62,500, right in the middle of the pre-sale estimate range.

An anonymous buyer paid $47,500 for a 1960 Gibson Inc. electric guitar, or twice the low estimate.

Which organization would you donate to if you had a million dollars?
